Why do people have different commitment towards their job?

People have different attitude towards their work.  Some are very diligent and value their work so much, while others are lukewarm.  Others perform so well with or without supervision while others are only pleasers; they work well with the supervision from their bosses.  Others are result oriented while others’ are contented with  substandard output.  Ideally, employees should know that management believe in every employee they would hire.  If workers should only knew that if they try, they can perform best; this is HIGH EXPECTANCY. If workers perceive that high performance leads to better outcomes; this is HIGH INSTRUMENTALITY.  And if worker desires that their outcomes resulting from high performance will make them an efficient and effective individual; this is HIGH VALENCE.  Workers performance in every organization comes from their values and their perception to things.

Every worker should think that we do not just perform well our responsibilities because of the presence of the motivational factors; employees should work because of commitment and love.  Everyday, in whatever we do, where ever we are, we are called to be better persons.  We are to be like Christ and to mirror HIM so that we can duly accomplish our life’s purpose.  Maybe motivations are there to encourage us but it should not be the real reason to mobilize us in our respective jobs.
